Skype founder invests in voice-to-text service Jott

The days of predictive text have come. After GotVoice, Snapvine or British company V7 Technologies, Jott is another service of speech recognition aimed to speed up the typing process. Text transcripts would be then delivered as emails or text messages.

The service is restricted to the US territory, and is a bit longuish; messages take four or five minutes to be delivered. Jott’s business model is classic, includes both paid and ad-supported plans. That doesn’t prevent investors to get turned on by those services. Recently Jott has raised $1 million. Not that much. But check what Jott has among its early investors: Ackerley Partners, Draper Richards, the Silicon Valley venture capital firm and Skype founder Niklas Zennstrom investment company.

That doesn’t mean any Skype module in preparation. But what if they do it? Here’s an idea: Bring up a voice-to-text module to translate a speech into SMS and able to group text message.
