Yahoo Messenger, close to land into Live Messenger

Microsoft and Yahoo! have announced they will make their respective messengers talk to each other. That was a year ago and since then, nothing really happened under the radar.
But today, Leah, from the Windows Live Messenger team, wrote on the product weblog: “Last week I got to check out a fully functional version of WL Messenger which could exchange IMs with a fully functional version of Yahoo!”
The wait is finally over? No, “not yet, but soon.” “As it turns out, it’s been a hard problem to solve,” said Leah. “They’ve still got some work to do ― specifically final testing.” But at least, they didn’t forget the deal.
So far, the interoperability only allows users to merge contact lists, as a year ago, voice features weren’t possible by both instant messengers. Anyway, with Yahoo going with MSN Live Messenger, and Google getting along with AIM, Skype must feel a bit lonely.
