YackPack emails your missed voice conference messages

We have known B.J. Fogg as the professor of captology at Stanford University, and he roughly explained his discipline as the study of persuading people online and via mobile phones. BJ Fogg is also the creator of YackPack, another voice conference call application, although the web site prefers to coin it as a “voice communication for groups” — Fogg wanted to create a software to catch on with his family.

YackPack’s big advantage is to be web-based, so no download is required. Its interface and functions are easy. Group members push a button to speak. Not as intuitive as the telephone, but: If others are online by that time, they will listen to the speaker as if they were in a conference call, if not, the message will be recorded and forwarded to their email box as an attachment.

Although the VoIP arena seems over crowded, the application might find its niche. Its “talk or send it to my mailbox” feature could be the missing link between the SkypeCast widget (also called “public widget”) and the other conference call features offered by Gizmo Project and rivals. It also is a good way to podcast voice conferences.
