Windows Live Messenger imminent launch, most probably

The Windows Live Messenger team is finally ready for the show. After being delayed and delayed again, the WL fan site LiveSide.net thinks that this time, the new messenger will go out of the labs today, Monday 19th or last deadline, tomorrow Tuesday 20th.
For the record, the WL Messenger has been raised to crunch Skype. Video calls, Live phones and Lifecams supports (with a competing product certification), Offline instant messaging, are among its features that should interest a bunch of residential, non-geeky users. And providing that MSN Messenger ranks first as the most used IM in the world, a fierce battle is coming.
Unfortunately for Yahoo users, Windows Live won’t interoperate with their chat software. The interoperability has been pushed back to the “coming soon” list.
UPDATE: Windows Live Messenger is now officially launched. “Microsoft Corp. releases Windows Live Messenger, available at http://get.live.com/messenger/overview, one of the first of more than 20 new Windows Live services to launch globally over the course of the year.”
UPDATE 2: There’s a presentation video on “On10“, which also shows the Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s chest buzz promotion.
