WiFi as ‘cool’ as the iPod

WiFi is cool. Not as cool as Bono and Madonna, not cool enough to fill a entire stadium for a one-short concert, but cool enough to attract people in hotspots ― when they’re free ―, and as cool as iPod.

Wifi is cool as iPod. Although comparing a product with a technology is slightly as biased as telling a sushi is as good as a pizza, the WiFi Alliance (the organization which promotes WiFi adoption) issued a study in which two strong trends are confirmed:

  1. That a vast majority of people would like to get rid of their home telephone (79% of the respondents) over a WiFi network.
  2. That mobility transforms the usual perception of what an office is. “Rather, they’re working in the kitchen, living room, or even in a public space such as a coffee shop or bookstore,” said the WiFi Alliance in a statement.

At some points, adding WiFi support to the Apple iPod wouldn’t harm the device popularity. Neither developing the iPhone with extensive voice over WLAN capacities.
