WebPhone to replace pay phone

You won’t many changes making a phone call with the WebPhone and with a traditional pay phone. Except that you can access the Web, check your email, and that every call would go through the WiFi hotspot built-in the phone booth instead of a landline connection.
Pie Networks, which developed the device debuting soon in Australia, considers it could constitute an alternative to traditional pay phones. Of course, as airtime rates are so much lower than for pay phone. The idea isn’t that bad, making a new breed of Internet cafe, but seems to be outdated ― I wonder how many VoIP residential users have already rented their private telephone line to their neighborhood.
While the WebPhone could find customers in Australia, where the spread size of cities prevents WiFi deployment, the IP phone booth might be hard to sell in Europe, in the United States or in any other regions where WiFi hotspots could be set for as cheap as a VoIP call.
