5 vulnerable instant messengers

Okay, it’s the best way to bring some buzz on its applications. But there’s something to discuss about Bit9, a security vendor, that released a list of 15 popular applications that are the most exposed to critical attacks.

Five on 15 items of the list just concerns instant messengers. Skype 1.4 ― ranked 3rd. AIM 5.5 ― ranked 8th. Yahoo! Messenger 6 ― ranked 10th. ICQ 2003a ― ranked 15th.

Don’t rush on us if you too do find the version of the applications is quite old ― even if there may be many people who still use those clients. But a couple of notes: Skype still tops other voice clients for security; MSN Messenger seems more secure than competitors’ applications.
