“VoIP is just coming out of its infancy”

VoIP is booming nowadays. It’s still maturing, great functionalities aren’t here yet. That’s the point of view of an interesting analysis paper published by The San Fransisco Examiner. 21talks digested it for you.

  1. Households start realizing they already use VoIP service. When they get more acute on this topic, they won’t bother take the whole package. They experiment some more valuable services.
  2. It grows into a more robust technology while remaining a cost-effective tool, said William Wisialowski, a partner with San Francisco, CA-based investment bank Seven Hills. Our conventional tool (such as email and presentation) could soon be stored into one of the WAV/MP3/OGG formats.
  3. Additional features will bundle the next VoIP 2.0 applications. For instance, the ‘Find me’ and ‘Follow me as I move’, already set by Skype and the Gizmo Project. Or the plug-and-call service that should be available to traditional phones.
  4. The VoIP service could be administered directly online. Resulting in cost-saving for telcos and à-la-carte service for customers.
