Mixing tags and VoIP: VerbDate

-
Mixing tags and VoIP is so obvious that we were wondering when a social network is going to provide them both. Our quest did stop on one company, Verbdate, based in Vancouver, Canada.
Verbdate is a relationship/dating network, caught by the current trends of the Internet. First: its logo shows the beta badge, the very compulsory badge to inform the Internet you’re a web 2.0 company. More seriously: Verbdate uses some nice Javascript effects and relies on AJAX technologies to refresh data.
Second. As for instance 43things.com, the dating network encourages all its members to tag each other. Extensively. Until they get a tag swarm.
Third: Verbdate is about relationship, so people want to chat. They incorporate some Skype web presence functionalities. Very sweet to talk between anonymous people even though people have to download the voice client and get a Skype ID by themselves. It would be nicer if during the Verbdate registration process, the Skype ID is automatically generated.
Adding some Internet telephony features to a social network isn’t a scoop. Friendster has been doing it for almost two years.
In addition to the VoIP feature, Verbdate also provides Flickr and Google Maps in its standard toolbox.
Now: a screenshot to let you rant or rave.
