The first Live Messenger phone

MSN Live Messenger is only on beta testing. Doesn’t matter, it already has its own WinPhone, meaning a phone that the manufacturer, Uniden, solely dedicates to the Microsoft voice IM.

The device looks nice. Slick, cordless, black phone, dual-mode, with those two big buttons which indicates “talk” and “end” as Robert Mitchum has tattooed “love” and “hate” on his fists.

The Uniden Win1200 brings on the Windows Live Messenger interface. That doesn’t necessarily mean users could synchronize the phone ringtone with the computer’s. At least, you change switch your online status with a snap, and reach your contact list. Uniden insists: The Win1200 is WiFi friendly, which means it doesn’t interfere with traditional 802.11b/g wireless standards (the phone works on a 5.8 GHz band of frequency).

In order to make it work, you need to get your computer running Windows XP and MSN Live Messenger (MSN 8.0).
