Nokia, Motorola, Samsung: Let’s start the UMA experience

So the UMA revolution begins ― near the polar circle.

“Fifty families in Oulu near the polar circle in northern Finland will test the technology over the next two months,” said Reuters. For the record, UMA (unlicensed mobile access) is expected to converge fixed and mobile devices.

Not that far but still in a cold country, Motorola inked a deal with Danish telco TeliaSonera to add UMA system to their national network. The deployment should launch by the end of the year.

Briefly before this announcement, Samsung unveiled its first UMA-capable mobile device.

In the same time, Skype is announcing a version for Symbian, the mobile operating system that powers smartphones. Test would be conducted in Spain and start in next September.
