One-to-many text message

American people don’t get SMS, recently said Paul Kedrosky from Business 2.0. It’s not an answer, quite the opposite. There’s one cool tool that would help the SMS practice to take off in North America. txtGroups, a phone service tapping into the one-to-many communication. You set up a group of contacts, and let the system forward your unique SMS to a bunch of people. Great for building your own community or revisit the Golden Age of Flash Mobbing.

There’s a catch. “Sending is free — well, apart from your carrier’s regular SMS charges — while receiving a txtGroup message will cost you $0.25,” says Under the Radar.

So far, the recently launched service is supported in Canada by carrier networks, such as Telus, Bell, and Aliant; in the U.S. by the Cingular and T-Mobile networks.
