In-flight calling nailed by terrorism

Recent terrorist threat has put a lot of stress on London airport at Heathrow. Since the last arrests, three of 10 flights to the US are canceled because of new security rules. And security rules are tough: No hand luggage, except the bare essentials, and no cellphone.

So a simple mobile ringing on board could turn back a plane. The incident broke up this morning according to the AP/Guardian (via textually). “A mobile phone was located on board the aircraft which none of the passengers appeared to own,” explained British Airways.

This could be the start of a new status quo. And in this case, a legitimate question: Will war again terrorism freeze any in-flight telecoms projects? Boeing is already about to sell its wireless company Connexion. Not worth the big investments, even when terrorism isn’t that threatening. There’s still Air France now the lonesome air carrier to keep heading to extend its in-flight cellphone service. But do you think they might be economically and legally able to handle their system fo a long time? And if not, is there a way to overcome this situation?
