More realistic avatars for the European virtual world SMeet

SMeet is an interesting virtual world in becoming although it looks more like a dating service. The first reason is that the German company provides much more realistic avatars. Their moves could be a bit restricted (they all walk in the same way and don’t sit on chairs), their faces are more good looking, giving them a look closer to the Sims than those living in Second Life.

The second reason is that SMeet uses multiple medias to relay the chat started in the virtual world. Members can use their own home phones and text message to reach each other, as long as they keep paying for those extra data.

SMeet is in alpha, “already has a staff of 25 and was founded in September 2006”, adds the Alarm Clock Euro.
