Skype has made an unseen move since the Microsoft glorious era in the 90s, since the Windows hotkey premiere. The voice software company reached a deal with Packard Bell to add a hotkey solely dedicated to Skype on the next laptop model.

“The Skype calling button is located next to the integrated webcam on the upper bevel of the screen display. By pressing the button the user can answer incoming calls or open the Skype application to make a call,” says a statement.

Skype already partnered Dell with a very recent deal to preload its voice client onto Dell PCs. This time ― and even putting aside its product certification strategy which looks very similar to Windows ―, the voice software company is tying its partnership.

This is more what we expected from eBay-Skype. Something that will anchor their presence for the next decade.
