Skype and the NSA: Yes, sir

In the Net Neutrality debate, some days ago, Skype said they won’t get blocked because they will grow that big. But they states differently when it comes to the national privacy policy.

On Grain of Salt weblog, JD noticed a change in the Skype EULA:

“Except as provided below, Skype shall not sell, rent, trade or otherwise transfer any Personal and/or Traffic Data or Communications Content to any third party without Your explicit permission, unless it is obliged to do so under applicable laws or by order of the competent authorities.”

Add to this, Niklas Zennstrom saying in an interview that Skype was cooperating with the Chinese authorities and blocking VoIP communications. Now, chances are good that the softphone company also gives users informations whenever it is asked. Or at least, the NSA.
