Watching TV with Skype (Updated)

What couldn’t harm Skype makes Skype stronger. (It’s not always true; look at the Skype protocol rumored to be hacked). And TV broadcasting, one of the most popular trends of the Internet, via Skype would do nothing but rocket boosting the software popularity right in the fastest growing economical region, South-East Asia.

And now the Skype blog is promoting its partner company, Novac, which we already reported to release a TV tuner USB key that broadcast TV channels via the peer-to-peer Skype protocol.

“I didn’t want to post this news before because there was no site for you to try this out,” wrote Jaanus. “Well, there is now. Novac set up a demo page where you can see it right in action. It’s in Japanese so you might not understand much, but just click the big Skype buttons to start a test call. Since the demand is great, they have limited the call length to 3 minutes, but this is plenty to give you an idea how it works — and it really does, so just give it a shot.”

We couldn’t give it a try. By the time we write this post, everyone is asleep, which makes realize that ubiquitous services don’t make time zones converge.
