Sending a text message to the Dalai Lama might not for tomorrow. Skype and Tom Online, its Chinese mate company, have been accused to take down text messages including words like “Falun Gong”, the mighty ’sect’ that freaks the government out, or “Dalai Lama”.

Niklas Zennström, Skype’s CEO, in an interview accorded to the Financial Times didn’t deny those facts. He even insisted that compliance with Chinese censorship was no different from obeying business policies of western countries.

Mr. Zennström also claimed that the actions of Tom-Skype had not put users at risk. Referencing to Yahoo China that helped the Chinese authorities to jail two political dissidents.

“I think it’s good for businesses and people in China to have access not only to Skype but also to services like Google and Yahoo and eBay,” the Skype CEO said.

True. And dear readers, the next time you want to give a call to the holy Dalai Lama, just say you’re trying to reach the smiling guy with glasses and a yellow head cap.
