SK Telecom rolls out its IM for mobile

SK Telecom has launched a mobile-exclusive instant messenger based on telephone list stored in handsets (via textually). SK Telecom is also known for its participation in Helio, the joint venture with Earthlink.
“The company explained that while SMS is popular, it lacks instantaneity. Meanwhile, IM lacks mobility. Therefore, SK Telecom’s M Messenger was developed to enable use of instant messaging while on the move.” While this makes many sense, such a IM system isn’t interoperable with other popular chat clients.
