Investors looks for VoIP security dollars

Sipera is a start-up based in Texas, provides security solutions for VoIP company networks. They recently grabbed $13.2 venture investment, which could raise up to $19.5 million if things go right. The round was led by Sequoia Capital, and includes prior investors Austin Ventures and STAR Ventures. As the topic has already been documented, here’s a little review on this:
Red Herring wrote that “Sipera plans to use the investment to extend the capacity of its products beyond the enterprise and to market to service providers and wireless operators.”
Dallas Business Journal indicates that Star Ventures, based in Germany, has already invested in early-stage, high-tech companies in Israel, Germany and the United States.
TMCNet published a paper on the launch in early March of the Sipera IPCS 310, a security system that zaps VoIP DoS/DDoS attacks, stealth, spoofing and spam.
Other telecommunications companies such as 3Com are seeking VoIP resellers. As companies lacks some network security, securing VoIP will be a major factor to make them switch for Internet telephony.
