Podcasting to mobile is getting hot (although…)

Bandwidths of mobile phones are widening. Faster, so more content could fit into the tube. And podcast companies start to get the word about it.
Check this out. ShoZu, a web 2.0 startup up to now known for Flickr mobile publishing, is announcing a service that can deliver podcasts to mobile phones. The system is call-friendly, interrupts downloads to let users hang up incoming calls.
Meanwhile, AllTel and Melodeo (respectively a mobile operator and a podcast network) are launching MobilCast, a system that streams podcasts to mobile phones. And users could soon download podcast on their PC and get them on their cellphone, just like synchronizing their iPod with their hard drives.
Mobile phone is the perfect platform for podcasting to take off. Displays are so small that people prefer listen to news and programs. The only turn-off is download are very restricted nowadays and a substantive portion of customers still carry devices unable to connect to 3G networks.
