We already reported this news some weeks ago, and since then, CNet got interested in the RyanAir in-flight mobile. The low-cost airliners is contracting OnAir to deploy in-flight mobile service system on 50 of its plane fleet by mid-2007.

Technically, the system will be using picocells. The antenna will be mounted in the ceiling of the aircraft, allowing phones to connect to the satellite link.

Because the antenna is close to the mobiles, they require only low power to connect, according to George Cooper, chief executive of OnAir.
