Text messages enhanced with rich content, self-playable

We talked about speaking avatars just a few days ago. Considering they should wrap text messages with sender avatars that would speak the message up on receiver’s phone. Such a service exists, in fact. It’s called RockeTalk, provided by the eponymous company.

RockeTalk is a small application to download on cellphones or PC. With it, users are able to send multimedia messages, then played on other RockeTalk users. So far, very classic. But the trick is it does also work on non-RockeTalk devices. The software wraps messages with the required piece of softwares to play them on any phone.

Of course, those messages are bigger, and would cost more to send. One could consider them as a rebranded version of the MMS, the multimedia message format that never took off. But if the company manages to play them with just one click, their service will help a lot people get used to rich content messages.
