Remember RebTel? We covered the Swedish VoIP startup in last May. A brief reminder: Each RebTel member receives a pair of phone numbers, one for outgoing calls and one for incoming calls. Phone numbers are local, and lead to cheap phone rates, for instance $0.02 for mobiles and landlines in North America, $0.05 in Europe.

Until now, the company was kind of a “blah blah on IP” company. But it has big news, or big bucks to announce: $20 million from Danny Rimer at Index Ventures and Benchmark Capital.

That makes RebTel one of the most well funded VoIP telecom startup, in Europe and in North America combined.
