Ojo is a video phone, not a cellphone with video

If you have a security video cam in your building, you surely know the Ojo experience — even if you’ve never tried it. Ojo (which means the ‘eye’ in Spanish) is a new VoIP video phone showcased at the CES. It is not the best designed phone to hit the market but the company claimed it will be the first high-quality wireless video phone that’s not a cell or smartphone.

In fact, the Ojo VoIP phone is two phones. Its base carries with a smaller handset for pure voice calls, as explained David Berlind from ZDNet. The phone supports WiFi and regular Ethernet to access the Internet. For mobile workers used to hotel rooms, a mobile version will also be available.

  • Hey, I have four of the Ojo’s. They are fantastic! So much better than any other phone experience and makes webcams the pits. And I LIKE the design (don’t have to look up someone else’s nose).
