Nokia VP of multimedia Ralph Eric Kunz stressed the orientation that its company is taking: “Mobilizing the Internet is a major strategic focus for Nokia, and I am excited to see how people can participate on the Internet using the Nokia N80 Internet Edition.”
So, as a strong signal to the market, Nokia announces the N80 Internet Edition, a version of its 3-megapixel camera, 40 Mb cellphone, FM radio now optimized for VoIP.
Skype and Vonage would be supported. Users just download their third party provider’s software to the device; the VoIP protocol is integrated right into the Nokia-built hardware. And we guess that the cellphone is fully compliant with the UMA technology that enables the switch from cellular to WiFi protocol.
The cellphone comes also with preloaded Yahoo! Go for Mobile, a suite of applications that includes Y! Messenger. Shippings start on mid-September in Europe and North America.
