No interoperability between Yahoo! and Windows Live messengers

Not saved but killed by the bell. Both Yahoo! and Microsoft have missed their instant messenger interoperability deadline. The roadmap scheduled Y! Messenger to speak to WL Messenger to be effective by the second quarter of this year.
“Technical issues” about voice interoperability support is the argument given by Microsoft. Yahoo, however, doesn’t have plans and doesn’t expect to interoperate with other IM clients, said a Yahoo spokeswoman to IT World.
Of course, one could argue that the last beta release of Yahoo! Messenger for Mac could connect to Windows Live Messenger. But it’s a very small drop of interoperability, which should be considered under the Apple/PC shift.
The real situation has changed from what it was last year. Rather than GTalk, Skype has emerged as a more threatening player. VoIP systems are features that needs human resources to be included into other services. Meaning: no one left for IM interoperability.
