The Netgear Skype phone generated a lot of hype at its announcement. Now it’ll have a chance to prove its capabilities. Netgear starts shipping the device to pre-order customers worldwide, and by October, it will make the phone available in Europe and in Asia-Pacific regions.
What we like the most in this phone isn’t really its characteristics. After all, it is WiFi handset, compatible with 802.11b/g that enables SkypeIn/SkypeOut calls, and that can display contact lists. What we like is more its visual aspects. Very well design, as beautiful as an iPod. And if Apple gain precious market share with its iPod design, there’s no reason why Netgear couldn’t get it there.
