For a first try, the NASA new VoIP system just crashed

The NASA brand new VoIP system crashed just after one week after its launch… It can’t have been worse, in the same time, it brought down the entire network of the US space agency.
Every phone remains shut for 6 hours, forcing headquarters staff to use mobile phones or PDAs, reports Computer Weekly. Getting workstation back to normal took 90 minutes. Hopefully. A NASA spokesperson confirmed that no space missions were harmed by the incident.
The NASA Internet telephony system took three month to get configured. It was Cisco Systems that did the job. The cable company recently broke the news by embracing the SIP protocol after diddling it for several years (see Cisco backs SIP).
