Narus: the NSA sniffer

NSA wiretapping program. Take 3: The eye of the Beholder. Wired News has put a name of the secret box used by AT&T and the US national security agency.
It’s called the Semantic Traffic Analyzer, has been developed by Narus, a Californian company, and according to Steve Bannerman, marketing VP, could record “anything that comes through an Internet protocol network.” Emails (with attachments), of course web pages, but also IP phone calls. Everything.
Narus has been contracting by the Chinese government to sniff out VoIP conversations in order to block them. Although this sounds a little too good to be true, does it mean Narus is able to detect Skype encrypted conversations?
If you missed the beginning of the series, you have to read the Take 1: The discovery, and the Take 2: The journalists wiretapping.
