MySpace through its cellphone, it’ll soon be possible in Japan. News Corp., the MySpace mothership, and Softbank, the third mobile operator behind NTT DoCoMo and KDDI, will cojointly launch the service this month.
But News Corp. hunger to seize the Asian social network industry is pretty much. The deal with Softbank won’t be exclusive, said Rupert Murdoch to Reuters. Mixi, the biggest local player, is also in talks with MySpace to provide an access to its subscribers.
For the record, MySpace has already landed in Korea, indirectly, through its partnership with Helio, a MVNO formed by Earthlink and SK Telecom.
