Microsoft and Yahoo messengers, connected for good

Done, and officially done. Microsoft and Yahoo messengers are starting to interoperate, a week after the deadline.

Members “will be among the first to exchange instant messages across the free services as well as see their friends’ online presence, view personal status messages, share select emoticons, view offline messages and add new contacts from either service at no cost,” said the press release issued by Microsoft itself.

This announcement makes us a bold lier. Although we knew Yahoo! Messenger for Mac could talk to Windows Live Messenger, based on some informations from ITWorld, we previously reported that Microsoft and Yahoo messengers were postponing their interconnection project ― InfoWorld even told that Yahoo lost the intention to interoperate its messenger. So we’re apologizing for that.
