Microsoft’s Tellme has released new ways to search for information via the phone. Two of them use the voice recognition engine. The last one is a text activated local business search by business name or category.
Those services are: * Tellme by Voice (1-800-555-TELL), the original one, just say “Search restaurant Manhattan” to get a listing in return of the desired business. * Tellme by Text, the previous service available by text message. * Tellme by Mobile, the all-in-one service for mobiles. It consists of a Java app to download on a cellphone. Users speak their request to their handset and then see the results displayed on their phone screen. Voice and visual search are available.
Tellme claims that its service answers nearly 80 percent of the automated 411 calls in the United States and handling two billion calls a year for 40 million Americans every month.
