Microsoft Unified Communication to better handle speech

Microsoft indicates that it’s releasing Speech Server 2007 as part of Office Communications Server (OCS). The Speech Server hasn’t been announced as part of the MS Unified Communications roadmap (unveiled by Jeff Raikes in June.) But it should ease telephone server and richer data server to communicate to each other.

Currently, “Outlook Voice Access and Unified Messaging in Exchange 2007 serve as powerful examples where integrated speech capabilities will expand access and unify email and voice mail,” explains Anoop Gupta, corporate VP of the Unified Communications Group at Microsoft.
