It’s official: Apple has the iPhone!

The Apple iPhone is real! Apple CEO Steve Jobs killed the rumor at his keynote speech at the MacWorld conference by simply showing the first photo shots of the device (pictured).
“We have been very lucky to have brought a few revolutionary user interfaces to the market — the mouse, the click wheel, and now Multi-Touch. Each has made possible a revolutionary product, the Mac, the iPod, and now the iPhone. We’re going to build on top of that with software. Software on mobile phones is like baby-software. Today we’re going to show you a software breakthrough. Software that’s 5-years ahead of what’s on any other phone.“
And the iPhone will already this great feature, it will be able to run Mac OS X. The design is minimalistic (we’re a bit disappointed by that), but to make it short, every thing or at least every patent you heard about the iPhone is included in the device.
“So let’s not use a stylus, we’re going to use the best pointing device in the world — our fingers”, reports Engadget. “We have invented a new technology called multi-touch. It works like magic, you don’t need a stylus, far more accurate than any interface ever shipped, it ignores touches, multi-finger gestures, and BOY have we patented it!”
He didn’t unveil the other features of the iPhone, the ability to make VoIP or GSM phone calls for instance. But at least, it’s official, the Apple iPod phone is there.
UPDATE 1: The Wall Street Journal reports the iPhone might be cobranded with Cingular Wireless.
But no confirmation yet.Confirmed.Jan 9, 2007 | By Nuno
