Intelitalk: An alternative to public telephone
-
-
Another telco, Futura, is launching a call-back service, Intelitalk VoIP Gateway. Basically, users first dial a local number and then their desired phone number. No need to download any software, no need to install any IP telephone system. The service will be available in some two areas in Arkansas. Wait! Not a global service? Yes, not a global, but we got interested in this for two reasons.
First: Not many VoIP call-back service are available out of the Web. Most VoIP players like Jajah, Rebtel are focusing on the mobile phone market. So why not going for landlines and triple-play IP phones.
Second: There could be an uncrowded market for rural or isolated spots. Besides the satellite broadband and WiMax alternatives, how would those populations make flat rate and cheap calls.
But anyway, the most crucial criteria will remain the quality of service.
