Instant messengers on all Nokia cellphones

Instant messengers will not remain a feature for top-notch cellphones. Some lower cost cellphones will soon be able to integrate the feature. Yahoo and Nokia are expected to make Y! IM available to users of Nokia’s Series 40 phones.
The Series 40 platform is one of the three systems the cellphone maker pours into its handset. It has reached its third version, includes the N-Gage and other models from the N2355 to the N95. According to Nokia, devices based on it accounts “for a large portion of the 350 million platform devices that Nokia estimates it cumulatively shipped through December 2005.”
