In-flight broadband are gaining momentum in Asia, much more faster than in the rest of the world: Vietnam is the new country to allow Boeing to bring online services abroad some flights to the country.

Vietnam Airlines is joining Koreas Asiana Airlines, Korean Air, China Airlines, Singapore Airlines and United Arab Emirates Etihad Airway to try the “Connexion by Boeing”.

For the record, Lufthansa and Air France feature in-flight broadband service. The former through again Connexion by Boeing, the later does it on its own and only for cellphone communications. In the US, well, the two licenses have just been given to AirCell and JetBlue. But both are hoping to set up the same of service by 2007.

  • Sean: Yes, basically it’s the idea. But it will cost you over $7 for an hour.

  • It’s the fee for connecting to the internet? My god, it’s too expensive. Then what’s the price for using the GSM service of air france?
