Idea for MVNO: get a better user interface

During the recent PMN Mobile User Experience conference in London, Geoff Kendall, CTO of Next Device, stressed that current and new cellphones need to get a ‘right’ user interface.

“Currently, data content and device features are crammed under the same user interface. This leads to confusion, frustration and the user not being aware of what’s actually on the device,” reports the MEX blog. “Performing tasks requires too many actions. Sometimes these actions are across many applications.”

Even if Next Device develops user interfaces, Kendall thinks this issue is critical. The long sequence of actions could hamper user adoption of mobile phone application; for instance, Helio users might not take full advantages of their cellphones as he said.

Many users are getting sick of hi-tech cellphones, considered to replace the Swiss knife but too damn hard to use. And provided that the number of MNVO is increasing and the competition is getting tough, a better user interface would keep customers’ loyalty and help mobile content and application to take off. How many people would like to know how to launch Eqo or upload their videos onto YouTube?
