HP to break into 3D conference calling

3D video conferencing might be not that device from a far far away galaxy. HP is developing its own PC-based system, called Coliseum (PDF, via engadget). The device, that looks like a scorpion, features five separate cameras mounted attached to the computer screen, which are acquiring the caller’s images from a different point of view.

Video feeds are then transmitted and rendered into a 3D image to the other participants. But, here’s the problem: HP Coliseum’s sucking down a lot of CPU memory, and consume a lot of bandwidth. Although there could be some fast video conference tool, like the Ashod Apakian super fast one, don’t expect to one of those video calling systems in a near near future.
