Reaching any phones with Google Talk: now a reality

With its emblematic iPod, Apple has been trailing many accessories and softwares companies. So does Skype, which kicked off some ecosystem supporting their voice client. How about Google Talk? Another new services?
Well, it seems that some new services are emerging too. Not that many. In fact, just two projects: Jabphone and GTalk2VoIP. Both are rely on the Jingle library, which is a set of open source XMPP protocol extensions that empowers Jabber client with voice. Google Talk early adopted the technology and now is one of its most popular representatives.
To use them, Jabphone users are required to add mr@jabphone.com in their contact list and then register their Jabber account on the service provider website. GTalk2VoIP asks users to do the same but with service@gtalk2voip.com.
GTalk users could then regular regular landline and mobile phone users but also receive incoming calls, send text messages, start conference calls, and use a free off-line messaging. The price are fairly cheap, but still a lot higher than Jajah’s or Yahoo’s phone call rates. Jabphone and GTalk2VoIP aren’t ad-supported.
