Google WiFi signals come polite, stay outside the house

If you can guess when Google officially launches of its citywide WiFi network, send us an invitation. For Google, it will be “in the next month or two, if not sooner,” said Minnie Ingersoll, manager of company’s free network in Mountain View, to Mercury News.
But it looks like Google is making it as a public utility service, stopping where private residential and business area starts. The problem is that getting a signal won’t be that easy: “To get coverage indoors, residents can buy an additional router to essentially amplify the signal.”
Residents are told “it was too early to consider dropping their paid DSL and cable Internet connections in favor of free WiFi.” Google will not be offering tech support for residents but referred another company to an extensive help section it is developing online.
