Google Talk gets a cellphone bundle: Talkonaut

Skype has Eqo or iSkoot to extend its features beyond the PC realm. For Google Talk, it’s the same situation, the IM is used as the main framework and marketing teaser by Russia-based GTalk2VoIP. Lately, the same two coders Evgeny Korolenko and Ruslan Zalata rolled out a Java mobile freeware that provides the GTalk standard features.
Users can chat to other SIP clients ‘and’ to Windows Live Messenger, manage their contacts, save their chat log into their Google account, and make VoIP calls to landline and mobile phones if they’ve registered to the GTalk2VoIP gateway service. The application takes advantage of WiFi but also relies on GPRS connectivity. At writing time, we haven’t managed to see what kind of phones are compatible with the service, the appropriate page being down.
GTalk2VoIP is one of the few existing services to extend Google Talk features beyond the PC realm (the other is Talqr). And for now, the situation is pretty bright for them. The search engine lets them plenty of space, and keep being silent about GTalk further development. (via genbeta)

You can talk to your Google talk friends with fring which works just great.
Dah. You’re right, we forgot to mention it although we covered it here. Thanks for double-checking.
