Google outs Trillian from its free toolbox

Is Google preparing something for its Google Talk? After GTalkr, it’s the turn of Trillian, considered as the most universal IM for Windows platform, to acknowledge bad news with the search engine.

As written on the Cerulean Studios company’s blog: “Trillian is no longer included in Google Pack. Our goals are seemingly no longer perfectly aligned with those of Google. Their reasons for removing Trillian are their own and were not made available to us.”

The blog quoted a Google press release from January 2006, in which Trillian was part of the Google Pack, the free software package that Google offers for free to all Windows users.

Trillian has been several times awarded as an universal, efficient instant messenger. No doubt it is the best IM for the Windows platform. But while competitor IMs have added voice features, Trillian hasn’t yet. No voice, so obsolete, so move on.

Recently, GTalkr closed its door. The web-based VoIP platform, that combines Google voice client with several Web 2.0 services like Flickr, shut down even before the first release.
