Gizmo-oh-oh: All phone calls, free, ever

If Skype has been dubbed the telecoms disrupting company, SIPPhone/Gizmo Project is disrupting the disruptive startups. And if Skype has initiated the era of free VoIP calls to landline and mobile phones, Gizmo demonstrates what means “Free beer/free speech.”
Here’s the big news: The open source Gizmo Project ‘All Calls Free‘ plan allows you to make free phone calls to other active Gizmo Project users in 60 countries around the world.
The program isn’t just a promotion (as Skype did), and provides more free destinations than Europe-based competitors (like Wengo or Jajah).
But two conditions restricts the eligibility to the program. Both callers need to be registered, and regular Gizmo softphone users. And so far, no accurate details have been unveiled on how long or how frequently you need to be an “active” Gizmo users to get free calls. And you or your contact isn’t considered as active, the call will just be charged at normal but acceptable cheap rates.
VoIP telephony will soon become a commodity, as free sending and receiving emails. Just this time frame reminder: Free SkypeOut was launched in May. In the same week, Wengo offers free calls to landlines. Jajah replicates in late June. And now in mid-July, it’s the Gizmo turn.
