What is better than cheap SMS? Free SMS

Oh boy, this one is gonna make us popular. Forget all those Mabber, EQO and even Vodafone “Summer of SMS”, here’s Txt2Day, a free text messaging, nothing but that.

So to send For US cellphones, go on Txt2Day.com. For Canadian, go here, and for Spanish ones, try this one. The service is pretty new, but according to Alexa.com, the buzz got boosted these last few days.

Now, you have basically the right tool to make the Google SMS Search a new hit. The new beta service targets users not able to launch a query on their web browser. They SMS their search keywords to the number “46645″ and results will be forwarded back to them by the same media.

Note: It’s weekend, we can try those kind of services. But remember Txt2Day.com doesn’t provide any EULA, so if you get a lot of spams after sending a ton of free SMS, don’t come blame us.

  • Gonna chime in here, cuz I own txt2day.com. The FAQ says we won’t spam you, and to date we’ve sent 0 spams.
We don’t store your number, we have no need for it. The adsense and Yahoo on the page more than pays for the hosting… so there is no need to spam.

  • We wrote in a hurry and didn’t take the same time as the other infos to effectively spot the “About” page. Thanks for the precision, Ryan. But you know, the aim wasn’t to nail your service down. As we went through the info in one glare, we were just whispering to precise this kind of things.

  • 4INFO (shortcode 44636) has a similar mobile search text message offering, but provides several additional services that Google does not: text alerts (sports scores, daily weather forecast, stock quotes), fantasy stats (”albert pujols”), flight times (”swa san jose san diego”) and a beta version of mobile download search. All these services can be accessed via SMS (44636), WAP at http://wap.4INFO.net , or at http://www.4INFO.net.

    Why 4INFO instead of Google?
“When asked recently for the address of a trendy downtown Manhattan club called Butter, both 4INFO and Yahoo! located it on the first try. But Google sent back results better suited to baking.”
