Ford to showcase a Microsoft car

After Fiat last year, it’s the turn of Ford to show off an intelligent car with built-in Bluetooth wireless technology, mobile phone communication, voice over IP, text-to-speech converter for emails and of course, a deck for the Zune audio player.
Ford isn’t at its first try to include voice into its car models. In 2003, it unveiled the voice-enable Ford Model U, supposedly designed to be the Ford Model T of the 21st century — Uber-eco architect William McDonough took part of the project. But this time, Ford has bigger ambitions with its deal with Microsoft.
The software company will provide Sync, its operating system dedicated to cars. The technology will debut next year as an option on at least two Ford brand models, the Focus and Five Hundred sedans. Ford expects to extend it to all of its models, including trucks. With the presentation of the Autonet WiFi router for cars, 2007 might see the rise of the in-car communication.
