It’s time to stop giving away WiFi routers. Fon WiFi network is putting an end to its promotion “$5/€5 a piece” at the end of the next week, November 3rd, 2006. Those who come after would bump on the same router, then risen to €29 for Europe and $30 for North America, says Fon’s mastermind Martin Varsavsky.

He also affirmed some weeks ago that Fon is reaching its critical mass, ie the inflexion point managers are expecting very much, the level of activity where companies start being profitable. Fon’s marketing machine gets a bit cooler. In fact, it’s just maturing into a real and maybe sustainable network.
