A smartphone with GPS, WiFi and Skype all in one

The Glofiish is a smartphone coming from Taiwan, and named in the wake of Nintendo Wii (the double ‘i’). The last model of the series, the X500, is good, but doesn’t outrun the competition. It isn’t the slimmer of its category, with its 15.5 millimeters thin, comes with a quad band and WiFi connectivity, the usual set, and is running on a brand new Windows Mobile 5.0 inside. But two features makes it a lot more interesting: GPS navigation system and the Skype client.

It’s the first time we see all those applications wrapped into one device. Actually, this make it a quite replacement candidate for the Nokia E series. You cannot have the same fun with multimedia applications but instead, you have a very large range of connectivity. E-Ten, which starts selling it this month, must probably target BlackBerry users, who have pretty much the same toolbox, minus the built-in GPS. And we still wait for Nokia and its Internet Tablet to dish up an answer to this.
