Eqo Mobile debuts

Chris Richardson from Eqo, the “Let me use my phone as a computer” company, emailed us to announce the launch of Eqo Mobile application. (Alpha version, watch out the bugs.)

For those who don’t know it, Eqo Mobile is a small Java program that, once installed on cellphone, let regular IM users connect to their account directly through their phone. The client will start with support for the whole range of popular voice calling clients, from Live Messenger to Jabber, including ICQ.

Skype still remains an exception. Its functionality is not build into this release, “although that will likely not be the case in the near future.” Windows Mobile and Blackberry should also come after.

We reviewed the main aspect of the mobile client some times ago, when the same company dished out a client that allow Skype users make SkypeOut calls.
